Paradise or Purgatory? You Choose!
Hi, and the warmest of welcomes to "Happy Life The JJ Way".
Sorry it's been a while since I've been in touch, my Happy Life has been keeping me very busy of late, as you will see when you read on. This month's article is about one of the most vital habits you can adopt to help you with your Happy Life, so please stick with me through the preamble to get to the nugget at the end.
You can keep in touch with me on
Facebook so please don't hesitate to drop me line and let me know how your Happy Life is progressing. I love hearing from you.
Paradise or Purgatory? You Choose! If you've been following me on Facebook you might be clued in to the fact that I recently returned from a wonderful holiday in the tropics. I'm not telling you this to brag or to impress you, but rather to illustrate to you the importance of one of my happiness habits which you will need to practice to ensure a happy life.
If you have been a member of the Happy Life Mentoring community for a while, you may have already developed this habit, or you may be fortunate enough to have naturally developed this habit of your own accord. But if you haven't taken on board the notion that happiness is a choice then it's very unlikely you will be in the habit of choosing happiness!
But back to my holiday...I had a wonderful time, spending hours snorkeling in the pristine, calm water accompanied by thousands of colourful tropical fish, the variety of which is renowned the world over. I met some beautiful, friendly people who made me laugh til I snorted (that's a lot) and will remain my friends and probably even share future holidays.
I crossed several items off my Bucket List and enjoyed some magnificent sites and sights, all while relaxing and yet being quite active. In fact, the only thing that could have improved my holiday would have been for Mr Right to come floating towards me in the magical light of the full moon bearing champagne and M&Ms. However, Mr Right was washing his hair that night,so he missed out, and I enjoyed the magical light of the full moon on a white coral beach in a still bay with a friend. But enough about that. What's my point?
The point is, whilst doing the research and deciding where I should spend my precious time and money, I read many reviews from travelers who had previously visited my potential destinations.
Many of the reviews of my eventual destination were bad. Very bad. In fact, early on in the research phase I discounted my eventual destination on the strength of the bad reviews. But something kept me going back and reading further. And then I realized that it was quite possible, probable even, that some of those reviews were written by people who choose to focus on the bad rather than the good.
For all I knew, they may have been overlooking Paradise and focusing on Purgatory.
So I took a risk which paid off handsomely and I experienced a week in Paradise.
Now, if I wanted to, I could focus on the things that weren't perfect about my holiday (like Mr Right's no-show) and be telling you how disappointing it all was, but I choose to focus on the magnificent rather than the mundane.
So, now I'm asking you, 'where in your life are you focusing on the mundane rather than the magnificent?'
What are you allowing to bug you that with a slight adjustment in your focus, you could instead be feeling grateful for?
Your partner? Your job? Children? Home? Finances?
Paradise or Purgatory? It really is your choice.
we'd love to help you Live Life Happy!
