Magic Number

Hi, and the warmest of welcomes to "Happy Life The JJ Way".

Just thought I'd quickly pop in to reveal to you the magic number for happiness. I can just feel all you accountant types (accountant types?? - would accountant types read Happy Life The JJ Way?) breaking into conniptions at the thought of the existence of a magic number for happiness.

At the risk of upsetting a tiny percentage of my dear subscribers, I present to you.....

The Magic Number For Happiness

Before we get to the actual number, can I just say, I regularly find myself shaking my head when the news headlines or latest current affairs stories scream about the latest study on happiness!

Frustratingly, governments are spending the precious time of our most intelligent scientists and presumably many dollars to conduct studies the results of which have already been deduced by your very own Happy Life Mentor! Why waste all that time, effort and money on a study when they could just ask someone who is The Happiest Person She Knows???

Ugh! Oh well! At least science is validating what I (and probably many others) have been espousing for years.....and I have to admit to being a little excited when I happened across the latest validation of my happiness theories.

Goodness knows why, but it took until October 2012 for scientists from the University of Warwick, in the UK, to establish that there is indeed, a magic number for happiness.

After studying the eating habits of 80,000 people in the UK, scientists found that the mental health and happiness of the people increased in direct relation to the portions of fruit and vegetables they consumed daily. Happiness and mental well-being peaked at seven portions a day. There you have it!

Seven. Seven is the magic number for happiness. While it has been well-documented that physical health is vastly superior in those consuming the recommended seven-a-day, the Warwick chaps were astounded (well, they were surprised) to discover the consumption of adequate nutrition had a direct bearing on mental health and happiness.

If you have been with us at HappyLifeMentoring.com for a while, you're probably way over me banging on about how a healthy body equals a happy body. When you feel great physically, it's much easier to feel great mentally! Now the scientists have agreed. Healthy people are happier people.

If you've been feeling a bit low, focus on eating seven fruits and veggies a day for a while and see if you begin to feel better. It's so easy to fit in seven-a-day - a salad sandwich or wrap at lunch time takes care of at least five. Throw in a piece of fruit for morning and afternoon teas and there you have it! That's without your dinner veggies or breakfast fruit! Too easy!

Make seven-a-day your goal and you will soon be loving life!
